Week Four! We’re almost done!

We have made it to the final few days before Christmas morning on our Advent Calendar! These days are likely to be very busy and festive days for your family, leaving time only for collapsing into bed at the end of each day. The activities for these days are simple and can be completed in only a few minutes, or could be enhanced to be a more significant part of your day. They are intended to be a quick reminder for you all to keep a joyful spirit during the furor of last minute preparations and parties. Enjoy!

Week Four

Preparing to celebrate Jesus’ Birthday

Day 22

Birthday Cards for Jesus

Work with your kids today to prepare for Christmas as Jesus’ birthday, having special times to remember the day that He was born. Do things like ask what kind of presents your child would like for his or her own birthday and ask what kind of presents He thinks Jesus would have liked for His birthdays as a child. You can discuss the Magi giving special gifts, and that one of the ways in which we celebrate Jesus’ birthday today is by giving gifts to each other. Talk about what they think that Jesus would like for His birthday this year, and if possible, consider ways to follow through on their ideas.

Design and create birthday cards for Jesus with your child, using construction paper, scrapbook paper, or plain white paper. Decorate the cards with paint, markers, cut and paste pictures, or other items. For added holiday flair, play your Christmas Carols playlist in the background! By now you and your child ought to be able to sing right along! You can also teach them this little song about Jesus’ love for them…

Oh, how I love Jesus

Oh, how I love Jesus,

Oh, how I love Jesus,

Oh, how I love Jesus,

Because He first loved me!
